  1. The fed have been a joke when it comes to this. It’s not clear at all. Can someone clear this up. If I joined in Jan 2009 and was frozen on pay scale 3 but my mate joined June 2009 and was on 2 when it froze but was still given scale 3 on anniversary (as no one under 3 years were frozen till they got to 3rd anniversary) do they go up to scale 4 in June 2014 but I have to wait till Jan 2015? If so how is that fair? With thanks, Confused from London.

  2. In a nutshell, those of us that were on pay scale 3 and above prior to the freeze will now continue from where we left off. Those that were anything lower than 3, and we’re allowed to progress to 3 during the freeze, will still have to do 12 months from April at that pay point before progressing.

  3. Simples, as of your next anniversary, you’ll get the one you were due but didn’t as you were frozen. Up to Oct 15, when your new anniversary is. Except those who started 2005 and there’s a little tickle as of April.

  4. Its rubbish checked out all the details that the fed put out I am this yr a 9 yr pc but stuck on pay scale 6 I will not get to top whack til 2016 in effect 11 yrs service and people who joined 2 yrs after me hit top whack the exact same time as me!!! Total crap!! 🙁

  5. Andy Dolan see my post I joined june 2005 this is where we are, june/july we move to 7 then nxt april we move to 8 oct nxt yr 9 (2 incremental rises) then oct 2016 we hit top….in effect 11 yrs 4/3 mths in service!!!

  6. Nicky, I think anyone who joined pre 2004 will get pay rises as normal, anyone after 2004 will have their pay rises but at weird dates to ensure that those who were not affected by the freeze (those under 3 years service) don’t leapfrog those with more service. I joined 2003 and am frozen on pay scale 8 (frozen 5 days before I was sue to go to pay point 9) but have read and checked the policy. I have just been ‘unfrozen’ and am now pay scale 9. I will go to payscale 10 next April. I know some pay scales are being taken away but not for a couple of years.

  7. Thanks Steve Auton, I did read the policy and find it ridiculous that in many cases people with longer service are getting to the top the same time as people with less….but hey ho….still in a job that I enjoy. 😉

  8. Karen Russell are you a policewoman? I guess not from your comment,so unless you do some other job where you put your life on the line everyday,I think your out of order with that comment, the police get paid a pittance for the job they do.

  9. Takes the p*ss. I joined in Jan 09. There’s a girl on my section who joined the end of April 09. She progressed up to pay point three just before the pay freeze. She is going to get her pay increase eight months ahead of me and will have effectively leapfrogged me and one other. So because of my start date going to miss out on a pay increase that everyone else is getting and some one with less service will be getting paid more than me. How’s that fair?
