  1. I just think the low lighting energy saving crap is a joke. It’s been statistically proven time and time again areas with low lighting have higher crime rates particularly places with old train track areas and alleyways because that coupled with low lighting equals easier get away. As for the officers nip to Costco they have discount on torches 😉

  2. ‘Last night it was still not clear whether the officers were scared of the dark, or concerned about the risk of tripping’
Clearly the only 2 logical explanations for calling off the chase!! ? The Fail strikes again!

  3. The Daily Fail is very selective when presenting ‘facts’, and has never heard of balanced reporting. Perhaps the officers abandoned the chase to stop the numpty they were chasing coming to any harm, thereby preventing him trying to sue for damages. Or, if it was so utterly dark that they had no chance of spotting him, maybe it really was pointless, and perhaps they were urgently needed elsewhere, where they could have made a difference. Whatever the truth of the matter, we won’t get it from the Fail. I’m just a MOP, BTW – some of us see through the anti-police propaganda churned out by this vile rag. All I know is I’ve needed the police many times over the last couple of years, and I’ve not been let down once, so I’ll treat this article with scepticism.

  4. I worked a patch which trialled having street lights switched off at night. After 12 months, compared crime figures for that year with the preceding year. No difference. And the patch had everything going for it for an increase in crime – rural area with a motorway running through it and close to London.
The lack of anticipated crime and disorder mayhem left the parish council looking a bit silly.
As for the Mail article, how about this condensed version: “Sarge, we’ve lost the suspect, got any back up or NPAS?”
“Nah lads, call it off, he’s long gone.”
